About Theo Michael

The artist behind the work

Theo paints cinematic, light-filled scenes that feel both timeless and deeply personal. Based in his studio in Larnaca, Cyprus, he draws on influences from Hopper, Vettriano and film noir to create paintings that tell quiet, compelling stories.

Every work begins as an original oil painting, painted here in Larnaca. Each painting is also available as a hand signed fine art print, individually signed by Theo in the studio before it leaves for its new home.

Latest painting from the studio, The Winged Lion

A bright morning on the seafront promenade. Palm trees line the scene, their shadows reaching across the pavement. The Winged Lion stands on his stone plinth, illuminated by the midday sun.

The painting has a timeless, nostalgic quality: a young lady in a red casual top and white shorts tip-toes barefoot on the colourful grey cobbled floor. She is taking the perfect shot, caught in the small ritual of capturing a moment she'll likely scroll past a hundred times before she remembers why she took it. Her friend, in a turquoise top, sits in a plastic chair, lost in her favourite book.

A lone figure walks near the water's edge, listening to her favourite playlist. The distant ship on the horizon is a quiet nod to Larnaca's long history as a working port.

You will notice the empty benches, a tip of the hat to Theo's favourite painter, Edward Hopper, known for his paintings of isolation and solitude.
