Café, Bar & Restaurant Prints

Fine Art Prints by Theo Michael

Where buildings become stages and strangers become characters

Restaurants and cafés have always attracted painters, and for good reason. The architecture is often beautiful, the lighting considered, the details worth studying. People dress well and sit close together. Conversations happen that won't be repeated anywhere else. Theo is drawn to all of it.

Whether it is a Larnaca street corner lit by a single lamp at midnight, or a sunlit terrace in the middle of the afternoon, Theo paints these scenes for what they reveal, the atmosphere, the human detail, the sense that something is quietly unfolding between the figures at the table. His cinematic eye finds the drama in the ordinary.

These are paintings for people who love the romance of a good restaurant, the kind of place where the evening seems to last longer than it should. Places Theo returns to, on canvas if not always in person. The light changes, the diners come and go, but the atmosphere he is after stays the same.

Each fine art print on archival paper is individually hand signed by Theo Michael in the studio in Larnaca — a small mark that makes it entirely his, and entirely yours.

Canvas prints are produced and shipped by our print partner to ensure the highest quality reproduction. They are not hand signed.

Cafe painting inspired by Van Gogh. Bring Artistic Expression into Your Living Spaces with Art by Theo Michael: Canvas Art

The story behind the print

The Art Café 1900 is a real place, a restaurant and bar on a quiet street in Larnaca that Theo walked past every evening. He knew the arched doorway and the magnificently lit bougainvillea were right for a painting. But the scene needed people. So one night, after closing time, he carried tables and chairs out onto the narrow road and set the scene himself. Passing traffic wasn't happy, but now he had the ambience and character he was looking for.
The painting, Theo's response to Van Gogh's Café Terrace at Night, has since become the one collectors ask about most.
