Fine Art Prints by Theo Michael

Hand signed fine art prints and canvas prints. Every painting inspired by real scenes in and around Larnaca, Cyprus.

Theo Michael was born in Cyprus, his father was a shepherd with a passion for Greek dance. His sister was a seamstress. Theo remembers long afternoons playing backgammon with his father outside the local café.

The streets, the light, the architecture, the unhurried ways of island life — these are not subjects Theo chose. They are the world he comes from.

Many of the paintings in this collection focus on locations in and around Larnaca, a few minutes from the studio where Theo still works today.
Every scene is real, a specific street, a specific afternoon, a specific quality of Mediterranean light that those who know Cyprus will recognise immediately.

For those who grew up here, or love the island, or carry it with them from a distance, these prints bring it home.

The story behind the print

The Backgammon Players is one of Theo's most loved Cyprus scenes, a familiar afternoon outside a barber shop in Cyprus, a game that has barely changed in generations. For anyone who knows the island, it needs no explanation.

"We bought the Backgammon Players as a birthday present for a friend, then liked it so much we ordered one for ourselves. Both are now framed and on the wall."
